She plants seeds that no one sees

a need to cultivate.

Ignore warnings to halt procession,

Soils already laid.

Beginning.

Too late

To let sprouts decay.

My howling prayers exterminate pesticides,

A fertilizing fear thrives.

Salt water drops from foggy eyes

Feed the feet of saplings.

Fistful of mulch,

Thinning in solitude,

Alone with no hoe.

Only I tend to this garden,

Though everyone desires to eat what grows
