Somethings aren't meant for
My extreme contemplation;
Footling flirtation through
Card game conversations.
Eye contact lasting longer than an eon,
Words beyond my inclusion.
Shuffling of cards,
Water and a border collie at my feet,
Comforts my nagging insecurities,
I am not the only uno,
I mishandle a good deck,
Nothing drops,
Still I fold my neck,
Chin kissing my chest,
Slow motion,
observing,
holding my breath,
underneath the table, He seeks,
Knowledge about her tattoos tucked in her sleeves.
Forgets,
Repeats himself the more that he drinks,
Tonight is a rerun,
Without rehearsing
I already know the script,
He'll deal all of her colors,
Attack me with skips
Set it all up so I lose and she wins.
I convince myself it's nothing big,
This game was made for kids.
Pretend to laugh at their shared dark humor, Smile throughout the night.
Relax,
Don't overthink,
or worry if their intentions are right.
Go home,
Try not to mention,
Both were furthest away from their lovers.
His back against me,
His toes giving her all of his attention.
