Something uninviting is amongst our presence,

It chews on chicken in the same chairs we slide our buts onto,

Coughs in between accidental verbal revelations,

I pray integrity becomes common,

Fathom a healthier way of existing,

Affirm it on apartment mirrors,

Believe each day will introduce an intervention

and that intentions will appear clearer,

but our tongues don't meet up at the table anymore,

Our teeth don't chatter after long days of work,

Just pressed lips,

Hurting bodies,

and a dirty nose.
